Don’t get us wrong—we love a good beach vacation. Soaking up the rays with a cocktail in hand is well and good, but a fitness vacation? That’s what gets our hearts pumping. You love a good workout. You love to travel. So how about combining those passions into one sweat-worthy vacation? Well Well Well rounds up a few top-notch workouts worth road tripping for.
Prefer to hydrate a run with a beverage stronger than water? Get moving for a glass of vino in the Wicked Wine Run. Racers can choose between a 5k run with celebratory wine at the finish, a 1k stroll with wine tasting pit stops along the way or best yet: both. The races take place throughout the year, in several locations across many states like California, Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
If the idea of plunging into ice cold water and scaling walls appeals to you, skip a basic run and check out Tough Mudder. The group-based obstacle course, in which racers must pledge to “put teamwork and camaraderie before my course time,” has blown up in recent years. The race itself is 10-12 miles and there are more than 50 events around the world. Yes…world.
We may just be getting over the cold, but when planning your fall trip, remember there’s nothing better than a toasty hot chocolate on a chilly day. Throw in a 15k or 5k to burn the calories beforehand and a charity component, and you’ve got a recipe for success. The race benefits the Ronald McDonald House and is held in several cities including Chicago, Atlanta and Seattle.
If none of these events work for you, try a visit to one of these relaxing spots:
